Whitening Treatment for Stained Teeth

The appearance of your smile can be affected by several different things. Many of them can be prevented with excellent hygiene and a regular schedule of general dental care. However, even healthy teeth may stain as colorful molecules from your food and beverages cling to their surfaces. Professional teeth-whitening is a cosmetic treatment designed to erase teeth stains and brighten your smile in a convenient and minimally invasive manner. If your teeth are stained or have lost their healthy shine, then we might recommend cosmetic teeth-whitening to restore their blemish-free brilliance.

What is teeth-whitening?

Cosmetic teeth-whitening is a topical treatment, meaning it’s designed to be applied to the surfaces of your teeth. How the solution is applied depends on the specific treatment you choose. For example, at-home teeth-whitening treatment involves a personalized kit, complete with a set of custom-designed trays that fit comfortably over your teeth. The trays allow you to apply the professional-strength bleaching agent to your teeth evenly and conveniently, from the comfort of your own home. We have one option that employs a set of trays and eight syringes of bleaching gel for you to use, as well as Opalescence GO, which includes ten upper and lower trays to use from home.

If you choose in-office treatment, then we can apply the bleaching agent to your teeth in our office, then stimulate it using a special light. This activates the gel to rapidly remove the staining deposits from your teeth surfaces, allowing us to complete your treatment in just one visit. With BOOST Whitening, we follow the in-office procedure by providing trays and syringes you can use at home to continue brightening your smile.

How does teeth-whitening work?

The process of erasing teeth stains and whitening your teeth is a safe but highly effective one. Professional whitening gel gently but thoroughly breaks up the staining deposits that accumulate on your tooth enamel – the outer layer of your teeth’s surfaces. During at-home treatment, you can apply the gel to your teeth for a couple of hours each day. Over the course of about 10 days, the gel will successfully break up and remove your teeth’s stains and brighten their structures. The same process occurs during in-office treatment; however, the light we use to stimulate the gel accelerates the stain-removal process for significantly faster results.
